Dec. 18, 2007 - PRLog -- Whether you're a budding baker or always in the kitchen creating new recipes, a career in the culinary industry could be in your future. But do you know what it takes to get there and what skills you'll need to make it in the field?

Students of the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute (Coos Bay, OR) have already taken a step in the right direction by enrolling at a reputable culinary school. Located on the same campus as Southwestern Oregon Community College, the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute (http://www.collegesurfing.com/clickcount.php?id=11494663&goto=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.collegesurfing.com%2Fce%2Foregon-coast-culinary-institute%2F) aims to provide its students with all of the knowledge and experience necessary for them to embark upon successful careers in the food industry. With employment in the culinary field expected to grow by nine to 17 percent through the year 2010, according to the United States' Bureau of Labor Statistics, culinary arts presents both a stable and promising industry to enter. Culinary school can be your recipe for success.

Oregon Coast Culinary Institute offers both basic culinary school courses and hands-on learning that prepares aspiring cooks for most any culinary career track. As part of this culinary school's associate of applied science degree programs, students will learn such important cooking school basics as knife skills, nutrition, and a la carte cooking, as well as pastry and baking. Whether you're interested in working in a kitchen, or would like to one day concentrate on excelling in a specific culinary field, the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute's courses will provide you with the essential knowledge upon which to build a career.

While aspiring bakers will gravitate to the cooking school's associate of applied science in baking and pastry program, students who wish to attain more managerial positions will benefit from attending the Associate of Applied Science Culinary Arts Management Training program. Yet no matter which program they choose, students of the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute will enjoy the same quality of instruction. In addition to small class sizes -- the instructional kitchens are designed for 20 students at the most -- this cooking school also boasts certified chef-instructors, and accreditation from the American Culinary Federation.

Students of the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute will find themselves working in 17,000 square-foot facility that features three professional kitchens, three classrooms, and equipment that industry-standard. Although this cooking school's associate degree programs are 15 months long, students only spend the first year on-campus. After they have successfully completed their coursework, students of the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute take on a three-month externship that allows them to put their culinary training to the test in the real world.

The Oregon Coast Culinary Institute also provides students with flexible schedules (morning and afternoon classes are available) and the opportunity to introduce their works to the public throughout their training. On a weekly basis, students of the baking and pastry program prepare wares for sale to the community, while students who are externing return to host "Chef's Table" events for the staff and public. These initiatives allow Oregon Coast Culinary Institute students to gain experience in serving and preparing for others early and often.
