Sept. 25, 2007 - PRLog -- Quickly expanding to meet the growing demand of mixed martial arts (MMA) fans, Bonecrunch Fighting announced today that it is adding a Jupiter, Fla. team to the franchise. Bonecrunch Fighting, an MMA league featuring local teams and local professional fighters, has signed acclaimed MMA fighter and trainer Kurt Pellegrino to lead the sixth team in the league.

A top grappler and mixed martial artist, Kurt Pellegrino made his professional MMA debut in 2000 at World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) 4 - Rumble Under The Sun, where he defeated Mac Danzig in a unanimous decision. Following the WEC, Pellegrino fought in various MMA promotions, including Reality Fighting, Pancrase, Ring of Combat, Euphoria, Freestyle Combat Challenge and Absolute Fighting Championship. Making his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut at UFC 61: Bitter Rivals, Pellegrino defeated Junior Assuncoa at UFC 64: Unstoppable and Nate Mohr at UFC Fight Night 9. Currently competing in the lightweight division, Pellegrino trains at the Armory in Jupiter, Fla. with the renowned Hermes Franca, Eduardo Guedes and Raphael Chaves. Prior to the Armory, he trained with Ricardo Almeida, a world famous Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitor.

“Known for his serious and disciplined training – for himself and his fighters, Kurt has a fantastic track record in mixed martial arts. Our grassroots approach to building a professional MMA network and league continues to show results as top trainers work to build their teams,” said Andrew Neitlich, Bonecrunch Fighting CEO.

One of the fastest growing sports, MMA has offered little opportunity for fans to support local professional fight teams - until the launch of Bonecrunch Fighting, the nation’s first MMA league with local teams and local professional fighters. Modeled after proven sports organizations like the National Football League (NFL), Bonecrunch Fighting is a league run by entrepreneurs with local teams, local professional fighters and heated rivalries.

“Bonecrunch Fighting is a great concept. There will be a buzz in our training facility while the team prepares, and our Jupiter fighters look forward to showing MMA fans what we can do,” said Pellegrino.

With the addition of the Jupiter team, Bonecrunch Fighting will have a full league schedule in 2008. The next fight card will be held Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Robarts Arena in Sarasota, Fla. and feature four teams. While team rosters have not been announced, the Cincinnati Norsemen will take on the Tampa Terrors in a five-bout contest and the Lakeland Blaze will battle the Sarasota Slammers in the second half of the fight card.
