Sept. 5, 2007 - PRLog -- "We fit your life." That's the motto of Strayer University (http://www.collegesurfing.com/ce/strayer2/) because they aim to fit the lives of working adults pursuing an educational endeavor. There are different courses of study, various degrees, and online courses available to all students, along with multiple campuses in Washington D.C. and 12 East Coast states, from Alabama to New Jersey. And, best of all, Strayer University strives for flexibility so that it may accommodate its students.

The average age of students at Strayer University is 34, according to Randi Reich, senior vice president of academic administration. "The average student works full time and is married with kids," says Reich. "Most students are part-time and oftentimes sponsored by their place of work. We're the university for working adults."

Because Strayer University works on a quarter-based system, students are able to take a wide variety of classes and move more quickly through their respective programs, which are concentrated in three areas: business, information systems, and accounting.

"There is a prescribed curriculum for the programs, but we allow room for electives and general education classes. The curriculum is grounded in your concentrated area, but there is flexibility," says Reich. "In addition, we allow students to transfer in credits from any other accredited institution."

Strayer University offers students many different degree opportunities, including the most common bachelor's and master's degrees, and certificates and diplomas. Many of the working adults who pursue some type of degree at Strayer University come from having tried out other schools. But the students at Strayer University all have one thing in common, according to Reich. "They are very serious about completing their degree."

There are many support services of which students may take advantage. Free tutoring, advising and career counseling, and a learning resource center are all part of a student's resources. There are also labs open for students to use free of charge. "These are all initial things that are there to support the student," says Reich.

As for admissions at Strayer University, students just need to fulfill the requirements and submit an application. Undergrad applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, while graduate applicants should have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. An admissions officer from Strayer University will guide applicants through the process, and prospective students will get the chance to work with Financial Aid. "The admissions process is designed to be easy for the student," says Reich.

When pursuing admission to any school, Reich has some advice for students out there. "Don't wait," she says. "It's important to jump in and keep pursuing education -- undergrad or grad. The benefits that it yields even from day one of getting into the program are tremendous. Give someone a call and find out what it takes and jump in. The earlier you start, the earlier you can achieve what you want."
