June 11, 2007 - PRLog -- Hänel creates the space for company expansion

Endress+Hauser is a global group of companies manufacturing an extensive range of innovative field equipment for process industries.  With over 7,000 employees worldwide, the Endress+Hauser Group is recognised as a leading supplier of industrial measurement and automation instrumentation the world over. They offer comprehensive process solutions for flow, level, pressure, analysis, temperature, recording and digital communications across a wide range of industries.

Footprint for the future: A new building for an expanding company

In 1995, Endress+Hauser purchased its existing building to form what is now the UK sales centre. This building provided great scope for expansion, but as the company continued to evolve even more space was needed. In 2005, a decision was taken to construct a new building on the existing site. This new state-of-the-art building would house all of Endress+Hauser's Manchester facilities.  To allow the demolition of the existing buildings, the existing archive storage had to be moved into a stand alone building that was currently fully occupied by the Receiving and Despatch department.  IAS Industore was therefore contacted to provide a space saving storage solution using Hänel’s automated storage systems.  Following a detailed site survey and consultation with Endress+Hauser personnel, IAS Industore proposed that some areas be condensed into one bay of the building thus freeing up space to accommodate future facilities.

Two Hänel Lean-Lifts were installed to store Endress+Hauser’s inventory that had previously been stored across 133 bays of mobile shelving.  In total, the automated storage solution saved 102 square metres of floor space.  The Hänel Lean-Lift provides such floor space savings because it allows the full utilisation of ceiling height and also automatically stores items at the most height-optimised location to maximise internal capacity. Two further Lean-Lifts have been installed in the stand alone building to store Endress+Hauser’s documentation.

Endress+Hauser comment: Great space saving! They run efficiently and have improved our stock control (Tony Feesey, Material Handling Team Leader).
