In 2006, Primal Quest Utah featured 360 of the worlds best adventure athletes covering 500 miles of the most brutal and unforgiving terrain in North America. During the 10-day event, ABC Sports / ESPN2 covered the 90 co-ed teams as they pushed the limits of physical and mental endurance in an attempt to reach the finish line of the most grueling multi-sport race in existence. The 2008 Primal Quest will feature new leadership, as PQ2006 Race Director Don Mann takes over the position of Chief Executive Officer through a licensing agreement with founder Denise Watkins, the managing partner of Primal Quest LLC. “We’re thrilled that Don has taken the lead to produce Primal Quest into the future,” Watkins said. “He brings with him not only the deepest adventure racing knowledge available, but a huge fan base among adventure racing participants who respect his talent as a proven director. I have no doubt that Don will be able to build upon the Primal Quest legacy and create another unique experience for our athletes in 2008." Primal Quest 2008, pg. 2 “I am honored to have the opportunity to manage Primal Quest in 2008 and beyond,” Mann stated. “We’re dedicated to producing the same quality event for which Primal Quest is so well known - this is the greatest race in the world.” Mann, who has staged more multi-day, multi-sport races than any other individual in the world, will continue to manage the event, bringing with him an experienced team; from discipline directors, logistics coordinators, medical staff and ropes crew to marketing and volunteer personnel. Mann’s wife, Dawn Taylor-Mann, will fulfill the role of Operations Manager, as she has done in nearly 100 adventure races, including Primal Quest, Expedition BVI, and the USARA Championships. Known for its epic length and staggering difficulty, Primal Quest is currently in planning mode for the 2008 edition as Mann “chooses from a variety of potential racing locations with a wide range of geographic challenges.” The first date that registrations will be accepted is July 1, 2007.
