May 9, 2007 - PRLog -- His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is to receive prestigious Mahaveer Award at the House of Commons in recognition of his message of peace and non-violence on 17 May 2007.

His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a leading humanitarian and spiritual leader, a Nobel Peace Prize nominee and the founder of the Art of Living Foundation – one of world’s largest volunteer based organisations. The theme of the Award event is ‘Ahimsa’ and during the event H.H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will reiterate his message of compassion and peaceful living.  

H.H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will receive the prestigious award from Mr Nitin Mehta MBE of Vegetarian Society.

“The award is in recognition of H.H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s unique contribution in presenting the ancient wisdom of India to millions of people all over the world. Ahimsa and Vegetarianism are the two strong foundations on which Indian culture stands. Through the Art of Living foundation Sri Sri is propagating these ancient values of India to the world,” said Mr Nitin Mehta.

Other recipients of the Mahaveer Award include Maneka Gandhi, Lord Weatherill, Tony Benn , Yuri Geller, Guruji Jaggiji Maharaj and Swami Ramdev.
