Grantham University Associate Provost Joins Board of Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks

May 31, 2011 - PRLog -- Kansas City, Mo. – Grantham University, a 60-year-old institution delivering accredited online degrees to working adult students around the world, is pleased to announce that Cheryl Hayek, the University’s associate provost of instruction and dean of faculty, has been named to the Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks’ (JALN) advisory group for faculty satisfaction, development and support.

JALN is a publication of the Sloan Consortium, an institutional and professional leadership organization dedicated to integrating online education into the mainstream of higher education, helping institutions and individual educators improve the quality, scaled and breadth of online education.

The JALN advisory group is a think tank of leading researchers and practitioners that works to more closely integrate JALN with ongoing Sloan Consortium activities such as conferences, grants and workshops.

“Making a difference is what education is all about, and I am privileged to be part of this team,” Hayek said. “To have been asked to join the Sloan-C JALN Advisory Board is both an honor and an opportunity to make that difference.”
 
Hayek is wholly qualified to sit on the advisory board, given her more than 20-year history in education, working in curriculum writing, course development, faculty development and instruction.

For the last 10 years, she has focused her career on helping adult learners reach their academic goals. In her administrative capacity, she focuses on best instructional practices and VIP2 recognition in faculty development.

“When we gather researchers and practitioners from across the country to share ideas that are student-centered, we are shaping our nation's educational future by purposefully and artfully developing the best practices of today,” commented Hayek.
