Nov. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- NEW ORLEANS,LA - The New Orleans Saints are heading to Dallas to play the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day. But the boys in Black and Gold, aren’t the only ones heading to Dallas for Thanksgiving. Pamela D. Lyles, author of the award-winning cookbook Da Cajn Critter: The Lifestyles, the Rules and Makin’ Groceries, will be in town to cheer on her home team to victory and to share her “Saint-sational Thanksgiving Menu” with fans and foodies in Dallas and the surrounding areas.
Lyles’ “Saint-sational Thanksgiving Menu” includes delectable, Southern dishes. The Thanksgiving feast and frenzy begins with appealing appetizers such as Mama Bea’s Cheese Cookies and Hot Artichoke Dip, followed by Cajun Fried Turkey and Dirty Rice Dressing served with Cajun Style Stuffed Mirlitons. The full menu can found at www.dacajncritter.com. All of these recipes and others recipes can be found in her book, Da Cajn Critter.
This easy-to-use cookbook contains 185 of Lyles’ original recipes, and a handful of others culled from family and friends. Da Cajn Critter is a “Certified Product of Louisiana” (an elite state designation) and was previously awarded USA Book News “Best Books” award.  It has also been called the “go to cookbook for all of your tailgating needs” by the Times-Picayune. These are easy, simple recipe that one can find the ingredients at any grocery store.
Lyles has been cooking and creating in the kitchen since she was a little girl. Growing up in New Orleans, she observed the magic in her own family’s kitchen. While the idea of self-publishing a cookbook had always been in the back of her head, it wasn’t until Hurricane Katrina that it came to fruition. Da Cajn Critter was born when the author was forced to relocate her family from New Orleans to Houston in the aftermath of the storm. Collecting and cooking the recipes found in this book became therapeutic for Lyles’ and was a way to help bring her family together during this difficult time. All of the recipes are easy to make in a household kitchen and help bring the flare of Louisiana flavor to any home.
Lyles will be making appearances at two Barnes & Noble Stores to sign her cookbooks. She will be at Barnes & Noble, 7700 W. Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX on Friday, November 26 from 1 – 3 PM and at Barnes & Noble, 3881 S. Cooper St., Arlington, TX on Saturday, November 27 from 12 – 4 PM.
