Oct. 7, 2009 - PRLog -- New Orleans native and University of Texas Alumnus, Pamela D. Lyles is coming to the Lone Star State for the debut of her new hit and award winning cookbook “Da Cajn Critter: The Lifestyles, The Rules, and Makin’ Groceries.” The ‘Critter’ cookbook is now available at all Barnes and Noble locations throughout the Houston area. Barnes and Noble will be featuring Lyles at two book signings, the Houston Galleria location on Saturday, October 24th from 12:00pm until 2:00pm, and at the Woodlands location from 3:00pm until 5:00pm.
A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Lyles spent a significant portion of her life living in the Houston area before returning to New Orleans. When her family was forced to evacuate New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina, Lyles once again returned to Houston with her family so that her daughter could continue school. During this time, Lyles finally found the time to complete her cookbook, which had been in planning stages for several years. The result was “Da Cajn Critter;” a user-friendly compilation of fun and easy recipes that have been tried and true successes over the years in the Lyles’ hotel-like household.
Da Cajn Critter cookbook is a “gumbo” of old family, friends, and personal recipes from New Orleans, Louisiana, all over the US, and even Italy. These are easy, simple recipes that use ingredients that can be found at any grocery store. It is a way of life for someone who wants to eat good food, be with real people and make cooking simple and easy so you actually WANT to cook! It’s about breaking the rules and making cooking fun again. It’s your ticket to creating a great restaurant meal in the comfort of your own home.
Since the book’s release, it has been taken on by local and national booksellers alike including the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in Napa, CA. The book received the prestigious award of 2008 Best Book in the Home Entertaining category from USA Book News. The state of Louisiana has given Da Critter the certification of a “Certified Product of Louisiana” and featured the cookbook at its International Media Luncheon in London, England in October, 2008 when the New Orleans Saints played the San Diego Chargers at Wembley Stadium. Recently, Lyles was featured at the 23rd Annual Doobie Bros. Charity Concert Event at BR Cohn Winery in Sonoma, CA.
Come meet the original ‘Critter’ herself on Saturday, October 24th at the aforementioned times and locations and take home your very own Cajun Critter cookbook.
