What is happening in Africa? Our teams on the ground are mobilizing orphans and the faith-based groups are standing up against officials that say 'let sleeping dogs lie".
The suffering is high and 3,000 orphans die EVERY day and 5,000 workers.
The Black Caucus seems frozen, many have refused to attend White House events and missed vital opportunities for their voices to be heard. I have met with President Museveni of Uganda. Then Ellen Sirleaf Johnson, President of Liberia met with President Bush last week.
Africa cannot afford to loose a generation of workers and a generation of children.
America and the world cannot afford to loose the 246 products that Africa produces and America consumes.
We are an inter-connected and inter-dependant world what happens to our brothers and sisters
directly affects all of our quality of lives'.
I have asked Chairmen of telecoms companies around the world to sponsor 2 million international phone minutes so that the orphans can call President Bush and ask him to sign the Executive Order.
To get the President's attention we must get 2 million calls to the White House switchboard and
then the President has to be officially notified.
I've asked members of NOW.org, ONE.org and Moveon.org to make the call on behalf of the orphans.
