H.E. YK.Museveni called to take proactive action on poverty alleviation & ‘bottom up’ investment

Hope calls on the President ... It is no coincidence that President Obama has chosen Ghana as his first visit to Africa to set out his new Foreign Empowerment Policy.

June 20, 2009 - PRLog -- Washington DC, USA -Ghana represents a country that is focused on alleviating poverty and sustainable development.
As bank debt is forgiven in many of the poorest countries, a new door to International investment is opening.  However, the leaders are oblivious to what the new model looks like...this next phase is not being led by industrial institutions instead it is the social entrepreneurs, technologists, humanitarian financiers who weald the power through technology-led, cooperation and mass collaboration Programs that embrace all stakeholders.
Ambassador Hope calls President Museveni to act now to ensure that the private sector investment of$8.65 billion agreed for Uganda for 283 new Economic Development Centers including Children’s Villages for 1.7 million orphans, widows and caregivers.
Hope toured Uganda from November 2008 to February 2009 as a guest of the community and faith-based groups that are desperately trying to serve their communities.   Ambassador Hope was appointed by the orphans and sick to in 2002 to serve their unmet social needs. She assembled an International Public, Private Partnership (iPPP) and secured financing offers from 3 sources to bring about a social transformation in Africa.
Hope said “I learnt a lot about the attitudes and behavior that keeps Africa poor.  The communities are at the “Tipping Point” they can transform or die. They are organized and ready to co-create a sustainable future for themselves.  I was very impressed with their hunger for knowledge, investment and empowerment.”

Hope supports the Presidents’ ‘Prosperity for all’ Policy and has garnered the international resources to implement it.  “However, the fear of empowering the poor is deeply embedded in the Presidents’ staff, Ministers, wealthier Ugandans and a couple of faith leaders. It is a fear based on ignorance and personal greed put before the common good and common wealth of the country” says Hope.

“The cows in Uganda are cared for better than the orphans” comments Hope. “And on Capitol Hill it’s no better, Africans constantly talk about the problems instead of the solutions.  The G8 Development Ministers have put Africa as No. 1 on the list of priorities for July…we must seize this opportunity.  No one in Washington DC understands that women are forced to sell their babies to witch doctors because they can’t feed themselves or their children or that 90 children sit on the floor in one classroom at school whilst worms (jiggers) crawl through their feet.  It’s time to get real about extreme poverty and transform their ‘quality of life’ by top down planning and ‘bottom up’ investment.”
President Museveni told the BBC at a press conference in Lira, Uganda that he was upset about the Ugandans that attack innocent investors that come to Uganda and would ensure they were punished. A failed extortion attempt cost the program over 230 million UGX and Hope made it clear that she was not a Muzungu to be scared by threats.  President Museveni has been helped before by strong British women such as Baroness Thatcher and Baroness Chalker.
Now it is time to bring the world’s attention on the orphans.
After assessing the lessons learned in Uganda she has advised President Museveni to take practical action in the next 30 days:
1) Put a 12 month media block on Kony and let General Aronda handle the rebel leader that consumes so much of the President’s time and attention.
2) Cut ties with the inner rebel leader from the past and choose to heal.
3) Eliminate reminiscing about the past in campaign speeches. Stay in the present and talk about how Ugandans can co-create their futures
4) Visit the G8 meeting with Ambassador Hope to get the final document signed to release the investment funds
5) Focus on Economic Development as the core strategy for his election campaign.
6) Encourage the 283 communities that can co-create their Children’s Villages to complete preparations
7) Call all Ministers, MP’s, Government departments, LC’s, Police, Army, Community and faith-based groups to unite in their common purpose to uplift a generation of Ugandan children.
8) Assign the 300 NGO’s in Kampala to partner with one EDC each to provide project management skills.
9) Remove any obstacles put in the way of community groups. Mobilize all country-wide resources towards alleviating poverty by co-creating a green and sustainable future for the next generation of Ugandans.
10) Inspire confidence in the international community that Uganda can transform into a 21stcentury economy through investing in 1.7 million children and prepare them to work in a global, knowledge economy.
