The Lie Boat! Successful Training Program in Lies & Lie Detection on the High Seas!

The first annual Lie Boat training cruise which set sail from New York City to Saint John in Canada was an overwhelming success, so what are we doing now? Planning for The Lie Boat in 2015 of course! But this time it will be a tropical destination.

MANHATTAN, N.Y. - Sept. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- On August 28th, 2014, the first annual Lie Boat training cruise departed New York City with two dozen people in the training class along with 10 spouses and 2 audio-video professionals for a unique training opportunity with several of the world's best trainers, practitioners and researchers on investigative interviewing, criminal interrogation and detecting deception. The 5 day/4 night cruise was packed with information, training, practical workshops and highly interactive discussions amongst the students and trainers which made the program one of the best educational training events for law enforcement, loss prevention, and any investigator who is tasked with conducting effective interviews and gathering information from other people.

The course content was outstanding, and each training session built upon the previous session and tied into the following one, weaving a solid network of 18 hours of training. In addition to the documented 18 training hours, we had a special speaker discuss the investigative and interviewing struggles experienced during the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut, in which 20 children and 6 staff members died. As the case officer and one of the many investigators during the Sandy Hook investigation, everyone was moved by his powerful presentation, which brought to light some of the interviewing and memory issues people may experience during and following very emotional or stressful events.

Other topics on The Lie Boat included Investigative Interviewing Foundations and Key Principles; Memory and Truthful Recall; Cognitive Interviewing; Micro Expressions; Persuasive Interviewing Strategies; Language and Lying; Investigative Statement Analysis workshops; Detecting Deception through Probability; False Confessions; and Supervising the Interview Process.

We had very positive feedback from attendees who traveled to New York City from as far away as Hawaii and Australia, as well as throughout the United States, Canada and England, and many of them stated if we run another program like this they will come back and bring colleagues. Therefore, we are in the planning stages of The Lie Boat in 2015!

For the next run in 2015, The Lie Boat will be heading to a more tropical destination and may have a few other surprises for those who attend!
