ST. LOUIS - July 14, 2014 - PRLog -- July 15, 2014 (ST. LOUIS, MO) – Hollyberry is proud to announce its Gooey Butter Cake has been selected for distribution by Goldbely.com, a curated marketplace that allows consumers to purchase their most beloved and favorite regional foods from around the country on-line. Goldbely finds the best locally sourced gourmet foods, shares their unique history and stories, and delivers them directly to anywhere in the United States.

Legendary offerings on the site include iconic American favorites such as barbeque from Corky’s in Memphis, sourdough bread from Boudin in San Francisco, Blue Bell ice cream from Texas, Lou Malnati’s deep-dish pizza from Chicago, and cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery in New York City, among others.

“We are overwhelmingly flattered to have one of our products chosen to be distributed by Goldbely,” Holly Cunningham, president of Hollyberry Baking said. “Our Gooey Butter Cake has been one of our most popular items in our gourmet gift collection. Now people throughout the U.S. will discover this one-of-a-kind creation and relish the same delicious treat that has delighted St. Louis residents for generations.”

Hollyberry’s gooey butter cake is among three St. Louis products currently being offered on the site. St. Louis hometown favorites Ted Drewes Frozen Custard and Imo’s Pizza are also available via Goldbely. “To be in the same company as these St. Louis originals is quite an honor,” Cunningham said.

Believed to have originated in St. Louis during the 1930s, gooey butter cake typically contains flour, butter, sugar and eggs. After baking, it is dusted with powered sugar and served at room temperature. Its dense, firm consistency allows it to be cut into pieces, similar to a brownie. Legend states the cake was accidently created by a St. Louis area German-American baker who was trying to make regular cake batter, but reversed the proportions of butter and flour. It has long been heralded as one of the city’s most popular, quirky foods.

In addition to the gooey butter options available through Goldbely, Hollyberry offers a complete line of corporate gifts including a wide variety of made-from-scratch, award-winning, gourmet sweets attractively packaged in a variety of customizable gift box and crate options that delight employees and clients nationwide. “Our sweets mean business,” said Cunningham. Whichever customized Hollyberry gift option customers choose, Hollyberry Baking stands behind its “Never Re-gifted” guarantee, a pledge the company made more than five years ago. “In fact, we are not 100 percent certain some of our gifts even last through the business day on which they are delivered without being eaten,” Cunningham said.

Headquartered in San Francisco, Goldbely was co-founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Joe Ariel. Before launching the company, Ariel was chief executive officer of Delivery.com and Eats.com. During its startup phase, Goldbely was part of the renowned Silicon Valley Y Combinator incubator program in 2013 and was named one of five start-ups to watch by Inc. Magazine that same year. In addition, the Goldbely website was chosen as one of the 50 best in 2013 by Time Magazine.

Since its launch, Goldbely has quickly gained a large following among American “foodies” and within the food industry. The company strives to maintain the highest quality standards and accepts only about three percent of vendors it tests. In September 2013, Goldbely received $3 million in seed funding from Intel Capital to fuel further growth and to fund additional partnerships with popular American restaurants and purveyors.
