PHOENIX - June 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Independent touring and recording artist Scott Helmer, who has opened for iconic acts such as Heart, Eddie Money, 3 Doors Down and Big Country, teamed up with the Kostopulos Dream Foundation for a benefit concert at Camp Kostopulos in Salt Lake City on May 31, 2014, setting a high bar for the Support YOUR Cause Tour 2014-2015. More than 200 people heard Helmer’s upbeat, energetic solo-acoustic set of rock and country favorites along with original material from his new CD, Wake Me When It’s Over. The concert generated more than $8,500 for the foundation, which opens up worlds of opportunities for people with disabilities.

Although the wind kicked up and the skies threatened rain, good weather held out and made for a dramatic evening of music and good will. “Scott played with an energy that was contagious,” said Mircea Divricean, Executive Director of the Kostopulous Foundation. “He stayed longer than he needed to, making sure every child received a guitar pick and every fan could have their photo taken. His story of losing it all and making a comeback is powerful, and we’re already planning our next event with him.” Helmer responded, “The good feelings are all mutual. Camp Kostopulos is an amazing facility staffed by wonderful people who make a real difference in people’s lives. I was honored to support such a worthy cause, and I can’t wait to come back!”

Helmer is spending an entire year traveling more than 25,000 miles cross-country, performing 200+ concerts without charging his own fee in venues ranging from historic theatres to saloons to RV parks and campgrounds to arenas to Harley-Davidson dealerships, all to help raise $1 million for good causes.  Helmer will not handle any money or donations on behalf of organizations during his performances on the Support YOUR Cause Tour. “I am simply offering to perform at any fundraising event free of charge, to help them raise money and awareness for their cause,” he explained. His only requirement is that the charity has a goal to raise at least $5,000 during their event.

The Support YOUR Cause Tour 2014-2015 kicked off on May 17, 2014 with a motorcycle ride and concert to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) at Los Angeles Harley-Davidson of Anaheim, CA, and wraps up with a benefit for the Calumet Theatre in Michigan on April 25, 2015. There is still room in Helmer’s ambitious tour schedule for additional bookings. Interested groups should fill out the registration form (http://www.scotthelmer.com/pages/support-your-cause-tour-...) to become part of this monumental fundraising effort. Helmer is also still accepting tour sponsors. Businesses and indivduals can find out more here (http://www.scotthelmer.com/blogs/news/14099861-entertaine...).

After making a huge mistake back in 2008 that cost him everything, Helmer decided to not give up. Instead, he hit the reset button on his life, creating a new one based on three simple things: Creating music, performing music, and helping others.
