Call for Sponsors: Support People with Disabilities and Help Break a Guinness World Records Title

PHOENIX - Oct. 28, 2015 - PRLog -- If you had told entertainer Scott Helmer a few years ago that he’d be attempting to break a Guinness World Records title this fall, he probably wouldn't have believed you. But that’s exactly what he’ll be doing during the 24 hours from Monday night November 30 to Tuesday night December 1, a date widely known as #GivingTuesday. The independent touring and recording artist has set his sites on the Guinness World Records title for Most Live Concerts in 24 Hours (multiple cities). Originally set by hip-hop star Jay-Z in 2006, the current record is 10, set by Hunter Hayes in 2014. Helmer plans to beat that record with 12 concerts.

Helmer’s attempt isn’t just for the sake of winning a Guinness World Records title. His real goal is to help raise $1 million for Kostopulos Dream Foundation, home of Camp K in Salt Lake City, UT, a non-profit that has existed for more than 50 years to serve children and adults living with disabilities and special needs from around the world. But Helmer needs sponsorship support to pull off his ambitious plan.

The attempt will launch in San Diego at 9 PM (PST) on November 30, which will end at the Grand Theatre in Salt Lake City on December 1 at 10 PM (MST). In between those “bookends,” Helmer will be performing 10 additional short concerts in CA, NV, and UT, including appearances in Hollywood, Las Vegas, St. George, Cedar City, Provo, Ogden, and the wrap-up in Salt Lake City. Helmer, who has opened for iconic acts such as Heart, Eddie Money, 3 Doors Down, Jeff Bridges, Eric Burdon & The Animals, and Big Country, has already spent months traveling more than 25,000 miles across America, donating his time and talent by performing scores of concerts for free in venues ranging from historic theatres to Harley-Davidson dealerships, all to help raise $1 million for good causes. To date, Helmer's tour has helped raise over $700,000 for worthy causes ranging fromspecial needs children and adults to military veterans and their families, animal and pet charities, food banks, non-profit theatres, and many more. The world record attempt will turbo-boost his already-successful tour.

It’s hard to imagine a person like Helmer would ever put a gun in his mouth to commit suicide, but he did exactly that during his darkest hour in 2008. “Everything I’m doing now goes back to that moment where I was one second away from pulling the trigger,” says Helmer.
