Follow on Google News | 3DS NYC 2013 Fall Program Launches Five New Startups15 participants, five mentors, four panelists and a team of entrepreneur volunteers led to the success of the Fall 2013 3DS NYC program which launched five ventures into the NYC startup ecosystem.
By: 3DS NYC Day one brought 15 selected participants together to brainstorm and vote on their startup ideas, form teams, and create a plan of action for their startup over the weekend. On day two, participants took to the streets to market test ideas, conduct industry research, create wireframes and proptypes, budgets, and strategic marketing plans. “Our participants receive hands-on training throughout the weekend from seasoned professionals in marketing, finance, legal, real estate, entrepreneurship and technology” said Matthew King, Managing Director of MK Capital Resources, LLC and current lead organizer of 3DS NYC. Mentors included Ryan Hubbard, CTO at Yellowhammer Media; Dimitris Kouvaros, Early Stage Team at Silicon Valley Bank; Danny Chen, Co-Founder at Online Trading Platform and NYU Think Tank; Delisha Grant, Attorney with the Law Office of Delisha J. Grant; and Nile Lundgren, President at Dallien Realty. Participants practiced pitching with TinyPass Account Executive, 3DS Global Facilitator and 3DS NYC Founder / Advisor , Luke Carrière, and pitch coach, Precious L. Williams, Esq of Perfect Pitches by Precious, LLC. . Teams closed the program Sunday night pitching to an esteemed panel of veteran advisors and investors. Panelists asked questions of presenting startups and provided advice on how to improve their idea. Startups formed during the program include: Praxia- Developed by participants Andrew Kingsley, Ian Grotton and Mohammed Ahmed, Praxia is a venture designed to help credit unions and community development finance institutions (CDFI’s) pool resources together to fund community based projects. FlashReview- FlexMindset- UnitedEstates- Gorilla Traders- Developed by participants Leonid Levit, Neil Prendergast and Joe Skupinsky, Gorilla Traders is making stock market trading easy and cheap for students through skill-based pay-per trading contests.
