2014 Chevy Silverado Nabs First 5-Star Score in New NHTSA Tests

NORTH LEWISBURG, W.Va. - Sept. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- Pickup trucks are known for their hauling, towing and off-roading abilities, with crash safety typically taking second billing. That could all change, however, because the redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Silverado is the first pickup truck to earn a five-star score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration since they changed their New Car Assessment Program for 2011-model-year vehicles.

To earn a five-star rating, the Silverado had to face a barrage of tests, including a frontal crash test, a side barrier crash test and a rollover test. With a fully boxed frame and extensive use of high-strength steel, which also provide the vehicle's impressive hauling capabilities, the Silverado displayed above-average performances in all tests, earning the safety organization's top overall rating.
