For one night only, the South’s gonna rise again as many former and founding members of Southern Rock’s biggest bands will perform together for the first time ever to help re-stock local food pantry shelves across Southern West Virginia.

Key members of legendary southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet and Blackfoot will appear sideby-side in concert at the Coalfield Jamboree Theatre in Logan, WV, on Friday night June 7th at 7:00pm. Audience members who bring a non-perishable food item will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the band members and have a commemorative photo taken with them. According to Burke Allen, one of the

benefit’s organizers, “I grew up in the Southern West Virginia coalfields, and am happy to call on my friends in the music industry to help the folks there whenever I can,” said Allen, whose firm Allen Media Strategies also manages Logan resident and America’s Got Talent winner Landau Eugene Murphy Jr.

The star-studded ensemble, collectively called the MONSTERS OF SOUTHERN ROCK, will feature guitarist and vocalist Mike Estes from Lynryd Skynrd, Blackfoot founding members Greg T. Walker (bass and vocals) and Charlie Hargrett (lead guitar and vocals), Jay Johnson (guitar and vocals), who has performed in both The Rossington Band and Blackfoot, and founding/former member Bruce Crump (drums) of Molly Hatchet.

“The all-star Southern Rock band for this benefit concert will actually have more members of the classic era lineups of these legendary bands than the bands touring by their names today actually do,” said local personality Dave Allen, a concert organizer.

MONSTERS OF SOUTHERN ROCK will perform the legendary hits from all three bands, including Sweet Home Alabama, What’s Your Name, Flirtin’ With Disaster, Train Train, That Smell, Gimme Three Steps, Highway Song, Simple Man, Gator Country, Free Bird, Beatin’ The Odds, and many more - sure to satisfy even the most rabid fan of Southern Rock.

The concert is sponsored in part by Southern West Virginia Health System, a company of Lincoln Primary Care, LLC, Gaylock’s Wrecker Service, Southern Amusements Company, and other community minded local businesses.

Tickets are on sale now at Southern West Virginia Health Systems locations in Logan at Fountain Place Mall, South Charleston, Man, Delbarton and Gilbert, and the Hatfield & McCoy Convention and Visitors Bureau office at 325 Stratton Street in downtown Logan. Tickets can also be purchased online http://www.itickets.com/events/308147/Logan_WV/Monsters_of_Southern_Rock.html or by calling (800) 965-9324. Advance tickets are $17.00 or $20.00 day of show unless the show sells out, which promoters predict is a strong possibility. Fans can also purchase a limited number of “Gold Circle VIP Concert Experiences” for $50.00, which will include a seat in the first two rows, an on-stage photo with the band, and free admission to the official after-show party, which will be held at B.J.’s in Logan, WV.
