Though troops receive supplies from the military, they can sometimes be inadequate and not meet their personal needs. Other items like magazines and sports equipment can be hard to come by while on active duty. Receiving these items as gift not only fills this need, but also raises morale.
Last year, Fisher teamed up with other Colorado-area Honda dealers for the drive and gathered enough donations to fill 14 Honda vehicles to the brim. Fisher is hoping to increase the numbers of donations this year, but needs help from the community. Fisher is counting on a repeat of last year’s success to send overseas.
Here are a few suggestions for donations. Please refrain from donating aerosol cans or items made of glass.
Non-perishable food items. Bubble gum, coffee, tea, candy bars, Kraft Easy Mac, dried fruit, nuts such as peanuts, cashews and almonds, pretzels, ramen noodles, tortilla or potato chips, salsa in plastic containers, or cereal.
Personal hygiene products. Hand lotions, shaving cream and razors, toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, tan or green t-shirts, hand sanitizer, black or white socks, feminine products, toilet paper, combs and hairbrushes, and foot powder.
Fun and other items. Footballs, frisbees, soccer balls, dart boards, DVDs, CDs, comic books, books, puzzles, disposable cameras, paper, pens, and envelopes.
Donations should be dropped off at Fisher Auto by December 15th. Fisher is located at 6025 Arapahoe Road, in Boulder, just northeast of the Flatirons Golf Course.
