 | BAM Outsource Reviews London 2012 Olympics Opening CeremonyThe build up has been intoxicating and by Friday afternoon the team at BAM Outsource could barely concentrate in anticipation. Just how would Great Britain do at putting on ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’? By: BAM Outsource There had been plenty of talk about Danny Boyle’s opening ceremony, we knew that it was going to be full of British history and celebrating what was most iconic about our country. Many people were wondering after the spectacular Beijing 2008 ceremony whether we could even compete with them. Ben Knowles, managing director of BAM Outsource said, “Boyle was incredibly clever in that he didn’t try and compete. He went for something completely different to Beijing, an inclusive eclectic show with flashes of technical and visual wizardry.” The ceremony never took itself too seriously, from Rowan Atkinson in the Chariots of Fire sketch to Queen Elizabeth making her acting debut and jumping out of a helicopter. Mr Knowles continued, “The ceremony was both hilarious and poignant. Whilst some have accused it of being an inside joke we know that many of the elements, characters and celebrities from the ceremony are known and loved around the world. At BAM Outsource we were a little bit nervous but we believe and the national and international press agreed, that it was a fantastic start to the games.” What were BAM Outsource’s top 5 moments? 1. The Industrial Revolutions – the incredible noise and power of the segment with the flowing gold and the Olympic rings high in the air will remain in people’s memories for a long time. 2. The Arctic Monkeys – what a fabulous performance! 3. The burning cauldron of the Olympic flame - So different from anything we'd seen before. 4. The cheer at the team GB entered the stadium 5. The Queen jumping out of the helicopter followed by James Bond With so many moments to choose from what did you think? Let us know your favourite opening ceremony moment, drop an email to press@bamoutsource.co.uk and we’ll post them on our blog. End
