Denny's to Host Fundraising Festival to Benefit Recovering Employee

July 27, 2012 - PRLog -- BOILING SPRINGS, S.C. – On Saturday, July 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Boiling Springs Denny’s will host a fundraising festival benefitting Carmela Rivera, a Denny’s employee shot earlier this year by her estranged husband. Fortunately, Rivera survived her injuries but the uninsured mother of three, now unable to work due to her long-term injuries, faces mounting medical bills and ongoing care. Her Denny’s family is calling on Upstate friends and neighbors to join them in raising funds to help one of their own during a fun-filled event.

Located at 115 Sloan Garden Rd. in Boiling Springs, Denny’s will host a Family Fun Fest with face painting, a bounce house, magic shows and live music from five local bands. One hundred percent of proceeds from the sale of activity and raffle tickets will go to a fund established for Rivera and her family. Denny’s will also donate a portion of its sales during the Family Fun Fest to Rivera.

In addition, guests can contribute more than money. The Blood Connection will be on-site from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. taking blood and plasma donations, a lifesaving service that contributed to Rivera’s survival.
“Denny’s is hosting this event in response to the outpouring of guests looking for a way to help Carmela and her family,” said Craig Herman, Denny’s franchisee. “We hope this event will make it easier for the community to make a difference for this young family at the time they need it the most. Denny’s would like to thank all the individuals for the generous donations already received to help bring this fundraiser to life and hope the community will join us at this fun but important event.”

Rivera’s family will join in the festivities and be on-hand to meet and offer thanks to all supporters.
