Follow on Google News | Enjoy a proper Dartmoor experience this summerThe Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust is joining forces with YHA (formerly the Youth Hostels Association) this summer to offer a unique family-friendly Dartmoor experience, involving cream teas and driving ponies.
By: Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust Starting from Postbridge on the high moor, one of The Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust's knowledgeable guides will show sightseers the fascinating Bronze Age archaeology and explain why Dartmoor ponies are an integral part of the moorland landscape. After taking in the beautiful scenery visitors will return to Bellever Youth Hostel to enjoy a cream tea and possibly meet a pair of Dartmoor driving ponies. Curt and Regine Full from Germany went on one of our walks last year, saying: "YHA Dartmoor is a lovely hostel in a beautiful location. The highlight of our stay was the walk around Bellever Tor with the pony trust. The guide was very knowledgeable and spoke so clearly we understood everything." The walks are available every Sunday from 22 July to 19 August. You can book a place by contacting Garry Hayman at Bellever Youth Hostel, Email: Dartmoor@yha.org.uk or Tel: 01822 880227.
