May 18, 2012 - PRLog -- Proper classification of your employees could save you from paying hefty fines for noncompliance reasons. Per the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), all employees are assumed to be hourly – guidelines for those listed as “exempt” are also set by the FLSA. These rules are specific and detail how employers should pay their employees.

The FLSA, enacted in 1938, mandates minimum wages, for example, as well as most compensation related details. This same act specifies how employees are to be classified as well, meaning it is not up to the employer.  As a result, it is crucial for employers to understand employee statuses thoroughly to both pay employees correctly, and to avoid heavy noncompliance fees.
