"Poison ivy league, boys in that ivy league"

April 20, 2012 - PRLog -- Originally from Ithaca, NY, DjSix07 now resides in Raleigh, NC where he has only begun to make his mark.  His passion for dj'ing came about just five years ago when he worked at a bar in Cornell University's "collegetown".  Whether it was hiring the dj's that got to play at his bar, or simply selecting songs from an iPod at an after party, Six07 always wanted to be in control of the music.  His passion for music, and uncanny ability to make a crowd move is what drove him to be a DJ.  DjSix07 classifies himself as more of an old school/Hip Hop DJ, but his talent, passion, and experience allows him to adapt to any crowd, and play the right music in any situation.

Having been brought up in the 90's, Six07 was given the opportunity to listen to arguably the best decade of Hip Hop, and that's where he pulls most of his inspiration from.  His favorite artists/groups range from Nas, Jay-Z, and the Notorious B.I.G. to The Roots, and Gang Starr; just to name a few.  Being a big Gang Starr fan, Six07 became very familiar with the work of DJ Premier, who along with DJ Jazzy Jeff are two of his inspirations when it comes to turntablism.  

DjSix07 currently DJ's for Star Struck Unlimited, and is also the official Tour DJ for Kaj Kadence.  You can catch him at several different events in the Raleigh area this summer.  Six07's ultimate goal is simply to bring people together through music.  "I think Music in itself is healing.  It's an explosive expression of humanity.  It's something we are all moved by."

DjSix07 joins 25 other North Carolina DJs to play at this years Soundfest Raleigh 2012 -- Raleigh's FIRST DJ Showcase by the DJ's for the DJ's.

The event will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 4:00 PM at Longbranch. Located just 1/2 mile inside the Raleigh Beltline (I-440) at the Wake Forest Rd. exit, Longbranch is a multi-club entertainment venue in Raleigh NC and has showcased some of the biggest names in the US.

Soundfest started as a vision by Kristen “DJ KStones” Stoneman to put together an event showcasing DJ's.  Stoneman states: “In an industry where the "DJ" is such an important part of the nightlife, Soundfest was formed to show homage to our talented NC DJ's in hopes to create unity between genres and the community, and gain respect of our peers.”

Last year in its inaugural event, 15 DJs participated and drew in a crowd of over 300. This years show will feature 26 local DJ's from the Carolina's and is sure to bring in a huge crowd.
