Animal has racked up thousands of performances and appearances and has held residencies at some of the hottest venues. The Playboy Mansion, The Winter Music Conference, The Groove Cruise, Mynt Lounge, MIA UltraLounge, The Shelbourne, Primal, Havana Club, Tongue & Groove, Eleven50, The Office, Cosmpolitan, Fluid, The Lions Den, Aura, Oxygen, The Koo Koo Room and The Living Room have all been rocked by Animals' beats. He has performed along side such renowned dj's as: Funkagenda, Anthony Atalla, Boris, Darude, George Acosta, Oscar G, Charles Feelgood, Icey, BabyAnne, DJ Dan, Huda Hudia, and Faust and Shortee to name a few.
Animal has been involved with music since the age of 6 years old and is proficient on several instruments (vocals, piano, drums and percussion). Having originally majored in music education, his main focus has been on DJ'ing and working tirelessly on his music productions and attaining his Audio Engineering Diploma from The School of Audio Engineering and Institute of Technology in NYC. While enrollled, he had the opportunity to learn mixing, recording, and production techniques from some incredible audio engineers, including, Danny Wyatt (Curtis Mayfield, Mos Def, Norah Jones) John Sickett (Dave Matthews Band, Phish) and Mike White (Whitney Houston, James Taylor).
Animal has many successful songs and remixes to his credit and also works with longtime collaborators Jamal Lasha (Rory Breaker), and Jonathan Wagner (BassGate) who collectively bill themselves as the "WundaTwinz"
Animal joins 25 other North Carolina DJs to play at this years Soundfest 2012 -- NC's FIRST DJ Showcase by the DJ's for the DJ's.
The event will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 4:00 PM at Longbranch. Located just 1/2 mile inside the Raleigh Beltline (I-440) at the Wake Forest Rd. exit, Longbranch is a multi-club entertainment venue in Raleigh NC and has showcased some of the biggest names in the US.
Soundfest started as a vision by Kristen “DJ KStones” Stoneman to put together an event showcasing DJ's. Stoneman states: “In an industry where the "DJ" is such an important part of the nightlife, Soundfest was formed to show homage to our talented NC DJ's in hopes to create unity between genres and the community, and gain respect of our peers.”
Last year in its inaugural event, 15 DJs participated and drew in a crowd of over 300. This years show will feature 26 local DJ's from the Carolina's and is sure to bring in a huge crowd.
