March 6, 2012 - PRLog -- There has been a lot of news coverage recently regarding 'Asset Protection Specialists' who promise the frail and elderly protection from the threat of losing their homes to cover the cost of long term care fees only to charge exorbitant legal fees for the service. But despite all this negative press, asset protection specialist Karen Newman wants to clear up the various misconceptions about the industry and its practices. As Karen explains…

“Working within this industry myself I have personally researched many of my competitors and have always found that they are in fact recommending the same solutions that I would myself and charging similar fees. I have to admit to finding one particular company overstepping the mark and promising the world while charging over three times the typical price, but contrary to popular belief, that is the exception and NOT the rule.
“I felt that with all these scary programmes and articles regarding this type of legal work it could benefit everyone to understand a few facts about what can and can't be protected in order to make a more informed decision about whether it’s for them.

“Trust work has been around for aeons. It’s commonly assumed to be solely for the rich and famous, but nowadays it can be applied to any assets that need to be kept secure. This includes ensuring your home and savings aren’t lost to the cost of care fees, as we already discussed, but also can also ensure that only the people you want to inherit your estate actually will (which can be complicated in the event of divorce or disinherited children).

“The right estate planning will protect your homes, assets and savings from all manner of unforeseen events like this, but too many people don’t bother to investigate their options until it’s too late.
“I’ve heard so many tragic stories that could easily have been avoided that I’ve decided to make our latest book, 'Safe From Attack' available for free. This book explains in clear, easy to understand terminology, a variety of effective asset protection strategies. It also details the necessary planning, costs and best timing for each strategy suggested (including how to spot unscrupulous tricksters!).

“Anyone who’s interested can call me on 0800 73 11 989 or email me at karen@ukfamilyprotect.co.uk to request a copy. I’m confident that this will undo a lot of the damage that’s been done to the industry’s reputation by a few companies’ unethical practices and prove that asset protection is no longer the solo province of multi-millionaires.”
