Jan. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- Green is the major trend for 2012 home improvements. That is according to the rising demands of home remodeling clients. And so to help those who plan to remodel their houses this year, Green Bean Buddy is sharing a list of home improvement trends for twenty-twelve.

As 'green' awareness is spreading wider and wider, more and more people are making environment-friendly choices. And that will be clearly seen in this year's house trends. As predicted by a design firm  specializing in home remodeling, the 'green' fad will be reflected on the high demand for recycled flooring materials, eco-friendly heating system and solar thermal systems.

Of course, the hit colors will also change. From the flashy hue of last year, earthly tones or colors inspired by nature will be the trend for this year. Additionally, it is also predicted that steam showers and a number of previous home fads will be popular again this 2012.

“Trends don't just speak of fashion but also of homes. And while old styles will come back for men and women's clothes this year, green will be the fad for home improvement. So if you have plans to remodel your house this twenty-twelve, it's best to know what's in and what's out first.”

“According to home design predictions, green as in environment-friendly trends will be on the flow this year. Recycled floor materials, eco-friendly heating system and solar thermal systems, for electricity,  will be in demand. Technology that will make a home more energy-efficient will also be in.”

“There  are also some old trends like steam showers and open floor plans that will make their come backs. And when it comes to colors, earthly tones will dominate the home remodeling scenes.”

“Another green trend is an uptick for solar thermal systems — not only solar water heaters, but also solar energy generators that use advanced technology to directly convert sunlight into electricity. This type of system will lower electrical bills and reduce carbon emissions, leaving homeowners eligible for a Federal Tax Credit. The tax credit is 30 percent of the cost of a renewable energy system (it works for both photovoltaic and solar thermal, along with small wind and geothermal heat pumps).”

“The 30 percent credit includes all cost of labor, as well as equipment costs for the renewable energy system. The credit can also be carried forward to future tax years if you cannot take the full credit in the year the system was installed. This tax credit doesn't expire until 2016, so there is still time to get paid back to go solar.”

Home repairs and improvements can significantly increase a house's aesthetic value. Nonetheless, Green Bean Buddy agreed with experts saying that home trends must not always be followed.

As with fashion, fads in home remodeling are fleeting. Hence, Green Bean Buddy suggested that home owners should apply the trends only on parts of the house that are easily changed. For the more permanent aspects like the flooring, the site additionally advised that the 'timeless' value of the trend must always be considered.
