On the NRA’s website you can now find images of African Americans women and there was  even a much publicized NRA member from Miami who was a Cuban American transgender and in 2010 Donna Milo a member of the National Rifle Association became involved in local Miami politics after joining  the city's Planning Advisory Board. Milo formerly Ed legally became Donna in 2000 and shortly after had gender-reassignment surgery.
“According to a report from the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs released in July, 2011 ‘transgender women of color experienced hate violence far disproportionate to their actual numbers in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and HIV-affected community. People of color represent 70% of all LGBT-bias-related murder victims in 2010, and 44% of LGBT murder victims were transgender women.” A Pasadena NRA member had the following to say in a recent blog “the time has come and indeed came long ago. As a transgender female with police experience beginning in the military where I was promoted to Staff Sgt, followed by civilian police experience at the state and county levels, I couldn't agree more. Concealed carry permits are granted for reasons related to high-risk exposure (carrying large amounts of money, high profile target, etc.). With all of our high casualties, being a transgender female person has proven to be beyond all doubt, a high-risk endeavor. Law enforcement in our great country is outstanding but outnumbered and mostly reactive to after-the-fact incidents. What is needed is for the transgender legal groups (Law Center...equality groups) to form a task force specifically addressing this. Clearly, concealed carry permits will be issued only to those persons not engaged or with a history of criminal behavior but once this begins to take place, only then will our casualties diminish.”
NRA Training Department develops safe, ethical, shooters through a network of 65,000 instructors, 3,800 coaches, and 1,700 training counselors. NRA Training Counselors train instructors to teach NRA’s basic firearm courses. According to the website NRA Coaches, develop competitors at the club, collegiate and national levels. NRA also is promoting  organized programs for women, by the women of the NRA, The NRA helps national youth serving organizations set up shooting programs, introducing first-time programs for NRA youth members and NRA-affiliated youth clubs. Gun manufacturers are eager to access an untapped market and to make hundreds of millions of dollars. Despite the concerns of anti-gun campaigners, since 2005 there has been a  90 percent rise in the number of women buying firearms, and popular custom pink and Swarovski crystal models are the in vogue  fashion accessory for the feminine  gun owner. Many weapon brands offer a 'female-stylized' gun even Hello Kitty models are available. One long time female firearm enthusiast commented in a recent blog ” I want someone to laugh when I pull out my hello kitty AR gives me an advantage. Laugh all you want you’ll be dead quicker.”
