On average, 46 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer every day in the United States – that is basically an entire classroom full of children being diagnosed with cancer every day.

Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 18 in the United States.

Childhood cancer occurs regularly, randomly and spares no ethnic group, socioeconomic class, or geographic region. In the United States, the incidence of cancer among adolescents and young adults is increasing at a greater rate than any other age group, except those over 65 years.

The main reason over 25% of kids diagnosed with cancer do not survive is because of a lack of effective therapies. And the reason for the lack of therapies was very simple: lack of funding.

The reality is that cancer has no boundaries and that at this time, cancer cannot be prevented. However, there are ways to help make sure Children’s Cancer Research is receiving the appropriate funding. Donations and awareness. We can make a difference and have peace of mind knowing that there is research being done to find better treatments for children’s cancer, and ultimately increase the rate of survival for children diagnosed with cancer each day.
As Children’s Cancer Awareness Month comes to an end, it is important that we keep the momentum going.
