Human movements are described in three dimensions based on a series of planes and axis. There are three planes of motion that pass through the human body:
The sagital plane: This plane lies vertically and divides the body into right and left parts.
The frontal plane: This plane also lies vertically. However, divides the body into anterior and posterior parts.
The transverse (horizontal) plane: Lies  the body into right and left parts.
It passes through the whole  body in a line parallel to the ground, dividing the body into upper and lower portions.  Most of our day to day actions occur within this plane, such as rotation (internal or external turning about the vertical axis of a bone), pronation (rotating the hand and wrist medially from the elbow), supination, (rotating the hand and wrist laterally from the elbow). Most of your total caloric expenditure will come from this plane. Therefore, engaging your body  in activities that rely upon this plane is crucial if you have a weight loss goal!
Three movements that occur in this plane are shoulder external rotation. Like reaching out a bottle of water you left behind while walking.  And everything that has to do with rotation. Therefore, exercising in this plane will promote caloric burning and weight reduction faster THAT ANY OTHER AXIS OF MOTION!. Nonetheless, engaging your body in a tri-planar motion is the best technique for a fit  strong-functional and agile physique.

It is essential that the exercise professional you working with understands” and is comfortable with the concepts of tri-planar motion and the fact that all functional movements are three dimensional. Nonetheless, it is biomechanically understood that description in single plane terms is most useful when generalising about
gross movement patterns.

Examples of dominant planes, motions and axis in gross movements
Plane Motion Axis:

Sagital Plane:  Flexion/extension Frontal Walking
Squatting
Overhead press
Frontal Plane: Abduction/abduction, side flexion, Inversion/eversion', Sagital-straight running,  jump etc. Also, lateral arm raise
Side bending, etc.
Transverse Plane: Int rotationn/ext rotation, horizontal flexion/extension, supination/pronation(facing up down),.Vertical Throwing. Baseball swing. Golf swing.
