March 15, 2011 - PRLog -- The Kids’ Book Network announced plans today for a new national holiday for America’s estimated 3,000,000 elementary school teachers on March 17.
“No teachers will be allowed to work at all,” explained KBN’s CEO Uncle Henry, “because we’re doing all of their work for them, After all, it’s St. Patrick’s Day!
“This year, on March 17, 2011, all any teacher has to do is (a) wear green socks to school and (b) go to the KBN website at www.read4free.net.
"Then upon arrival, and for completely free, our nation's teachers can click on KBN's landmark sociological study of Irish immigration to America, WHY WE WEAR GREEN ON ST. PATRICK’S DAY, and project the book for everyone to read, with pages turning, right up on their classroom wall.
“Bookcasting™ like this was introduced by KBN to America’s classrooms last year, and students – and teachers – love this new way to read books, with everyone on reading on the same page and all reading together.
“To make it even better, before the class day begins teachers can download a complete, comprehensive 18-page lesson plan, featuring two one-hour sessions.
“Through the lesson plan's photographs, maps and illustrations, students will learn about Irish history. And they will learn, as well, that all people have faced rejection and all people rise up from mistreatment through self-affirmation and celebration.
“Using conceptual framing– with forms and teaching samples provided – students will also develop an appreciation of who they are themselves and understand that their heritage is to be celebrated.
“With all of that and more provided, America’s teachers can pretty much relax, drink green fruit punch and celebrate just a bit themselves.”
