KBN report identifies the 16 worst jobs in the new August-September economy.

Youth entering the U.S. workforce and looking at these positions should maybe stay in school.

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Aug. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- The Kids’ Book Network today has reissued an important study on the special challenges of youth employment today. WHAT YOU DON’T WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP points out some of the dismal career options now confronting students who might otherwise be tempted to drop out of school.

“In the early months of 2013 the unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) among teens 16 to 19 in the U.S. workforce was approximately 26.3 percent. That means that today, more than ever, it’s clearly much smarter to stay in school through high school and college,” explained KBN’s CEO Uncle Henry, “than to drop out to take a job like, say, a taste tester in a spinach factory.

“Since kids are starting back to school over the next several weeks this is a good time to examine and discuss these harsh economic realities right in the classroom. And right now it’s a front-page story on the KBN website at www.read4free.net.

"Upon arrival at the KBN website, and for completely free, our nation's teachers can click on WHAT YOU DON’T WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP,  and project the book for everyone to read, with pages turning, right up on the classroom wall.

“Bookcasting™ like this was introduced by KBN to America’s classrooms in 2010, and students – and 3,000,000 teachers – love this new way to read books, with everyone on reading on the same page and all reading together.

“To make it even better, students can use the learning opportunity, as they think about what they don’t want to be when they grow up, to also think about what they do want to be someday. They can develop a better appreciation of how they need to study, read, think and learn to realize their dreams.”
