Dance Lovers Rejoice! Störling Dance Theater Coming to New York City

The Kansas City-based dance company will perform “Suspended Grace” for one night only at Tribeca Performing Arts Center as part of International Arts Movement's Encounter 11: Be Generative.

Feb. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- On Friday, March 4, Störling Dance Theater will take center stage at Tribeca Performing Arts Center at the Borough of Manhattan Community College to perform “Suspended Grace,” an original work. The Kansas City-based dance company is known for blending ballet, modern and physical theater into a unique dance experience, bringing passion and light to the human experience.  Artistic Director Mona Storling-Enna and Associate Artistic  Director Tobin James lead this world class company. Tickets for the 8:00 p.m. Performance are $25 each and are available by visiting http://www.smarttix.com.

Mona Störling-Enna moved to Kansas City in 1996 to establish a professional dance company based on her innovative and dramatic concepts of movement and storytelling. Together with her husband, Jeremiah Enna, they set out to choose relevant concepts and stories that would speak powerfully to  contemporary culture and stir the hearts of their audience. Prior to her move to Kansas City, Mona had established her first dance company in 1989 in her homeland of Finland. Kadosh Dance Company was based in Helsinki, and toured throughout Europe and the Middle East.

The single performance of “Suspended Grace” will be part of a three-day event sponsored by International Arts Movement. Encounter 11: Be Generative takes place March 3-5 and will feature presenters and performers from across the art, faith, and humanity landscape. Speakers include former National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Dana Gioia, creative visionary Erwin McManus, journalist Roberta Ahmanson, environmental scientist Calvin DeWitt, author Jeffrey Overstreet, and many others. The founder of International Arts Movement, Makoto Fujimura, will address what it means to “Be Generative,” poet Li-Young Lee will read his poetry and rock ensemble River James will perform.

Individual tickets for the performance of “Suspended Grace” are available to the general public at $25 each. (All full-conference participants will automatically receive a ticket to the Störling Dance Theater performance, included with the cost of registration.)
