January 11 webcast will discuss interpretations of the Fair Labor Standards Act and the impact it might have for food processors.

Dec. 28, 2010 - PRLog -- Recent interpretations of the Fair Labor Standards Act by courts and the Department of Labor address employees’ right to compensation for time spent changing in and out of work clothes, as well as other related pre- and post- job activities each day. The potential operating cost impact of these changing interpretations is causing food processors to revisit how best to mitigate the risk of liability and damages for non-compliance, while still managing overall company profitability.

Donning and doffing have come under fire as food processors, employees, and unions consider the legal and financial impacts of these activities. Food Processing will present a webcast on January 11 to discuss these issues as well as the value of automated workforce management solutions that can help food companies administer their policies around donning and doffing activities as a way to mitigate their risk of non-compliance.

Presenters include:

Attorney Dale Owens, a Partner at Jackson Lewis, will be speaking about the legal ramifications of FSLA

Beth Berndt, Kronos Incorporated, Industry Principal, will discuss steps processors can take to mitigate the risk of liability and damages for non-compliance

Dave Fusaro, Editor in Chief of Food Processing magazine, will moderate the discussion.

Attendees will be able to participate in a live question and answer period during the webcast.

The webcast, sponsored by Kronos, will take place Tuesday, January 11 at 2:00 PM ET.
