APS Launches Perinatal Safety Initiative in Texas

New campaign provides discounted state-of-the-art training for clinicians within the state.

Aug. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Boston, MA, August 24, 2010— Advanced Practice Strategies (APS), a leading provider of education solutions for patient safety, today announced the launch of its Perinatal Safety Initiative for Texas hospitals. The multi-state Initiative enables each hospital in the region to access APS’s best-in-class online Perinatal Safety Curriculum at significant savings.

In direct response to increasing hospital interest, APS is offering all hospitals in Texas a group volume discount of 25% for its Perinatal Safety Curriculum from August 25th, 2010 until December 31st, 2010. Developed in partnership with the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), APS’s innovative and clinically-focused curriculum addresses the primary drivers of obstetrical claims and adverse outcomes that hospitals and obstetricians in Texas experience frequently. These interactive, team-oriented courses focus on clinical challenges and critical elements of communication and include Advanced Fetal Assessment and Monitoring, Managing Shoulder Dystocia, Postpartum Hemorrhage, Operative Vaginal Delivery, and SBAR+R Communications. Also included in the curriculum is APS’s innovative Competency Maintenance case study series, a monthly subscription product that reinforces a clinician’s knowledge throughout their lifelong path of learning.

APS’s Perinatal Safety Curriculum is consistent with the national standard for perinatal care proposed by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) which is supported by the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), and is accredited for CME via joint sponsorship with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. With more than 60,000 licenses sold across the country, APS has demonstrated continued success in reducing perinatal claims and adverse outcomes through years of experience working with strategic partners like HCA, The Risk Management Foundation of the Harvard Medical Institutions, Stanford Hospital & Clinics, and the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN).

The APS Perinatal Safety Courses have delivered proven results: HCA has reduced its perinatal claims by over 48% by adopting a comprehensive national safety initiative featuring APS courseware.

“At APS, our goal is to empower clinicians with cutting edge knowledge that enables them to deliver the highest quality and safest care possible,” says Chief Medical Officer Dr. Martin November. “There is no time to waste in healthcare, so information must be communicated in the most impactful way possible. Our courses are designed to be very efficient and effective knowledge delivery tools.”
