Anaheim White House Celebrates 100th Anniversary & Unveils New West Wing Nov 6

(Anaheim Ducks & Descendents of the Original Family Who Occupied Mansion To Join In Celebration)

Nov. 9, 2009 - PRLog -- One of Orange County’s most celebrated restaurants is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the mansion in which it rests with a huge celebration and unveiling of a new sister structure.  Members of the Anaheim Ducks, local celebs, fans of the restaurant and descendents of the original family who occupied what is now known as the Anaheim White House will join in the Centennial Celebration on Friday, November 6 at 6:30 p.m.  Owner Bruno Serato will use the opportunity to unveil the new $500,000 West Wing, a 1,700 square-foot luxurious banquet hall.
“I am delighted to celebrate a part of the county’s history and usher in a new era with the unveiling of the West Wing with my friends and special guests,” said Serato, who said that nearly 400 reservations have already been made for the $65, four-course dinner.  “We thank Orange County and all of our special guests through the years for their support and look forward to many more years of fine dining.”
Among the guests will be several Anaheim Ducks players including Brendan Mikkelson and Bobby Ryan; and members of the Truxaw family, the original occupants of the Anaheim White House (grandsons Tim and Bill and granddaughter Ann Truxaw Ramirez).
Serato says that the highlight of the evening will be the debut of the West Wing and tours will be given throughout the evening.  He says that the space will be ideal for wedding receptions, business meetings, corporate affairs, large family gatherings and charity events will be available to parties of 20 to 180 at no charge.  In a unique turn, most of the capital needed to build the facility was donated by loyal guests of the restaurant.
“I am so excited to announce the debut of the long-awaited West Wing,” announced Serato, who purchased the restaurant from James and Bobbie Stovall 20 years ago.  “What better way to cap off our 100-year anniversary than by unveiling this beautiful new facility?”
The elegant interior will feature a cream and gold palette and will feature several Swarovski crystal chandeliers, gold cane back chairs draped in gold fabric and Venetian drapes.  Perhaps the centerpiece is a unique ceiling design composed of a unique material from the Ukraine featuring a gold design pattern accented with touches of turquoise.
Situated in what was once an enormous orange grove, the 300-plus seat fine dining establishment was originally designed to be a private home when first built in 1909.  It fell into the hands of the Stovalls, who decided to demolish the mansion to make room for condominiums.  On the eve of its destruction, however, Barbara had second thoughts – the structure was just too beautiful and important to be torn down, so the couple decided to, instead, transform it into an opulent restaurant.   New plans were drawn up to restore the building now known as the Anaheim White House and the restaurant opened its doors on New Year’s Eve, 1981. In 1987, the couple sold the property to Serato and over the ensuing years, he made numerous restorative efforts to preserve the property while lending his signature design stamp on the décor.
Today, Serato maintains the same philosophy that he developed in the early days of the Anaheim White House:  treat each and every one of his patrons as distinguished guests in his home.   That simple approach, along with his refusal to compromise when it comes to cuisine or service has resulted in the restaurant receiving scores of prestigious accolades and highly coveted distinctions.  They range from a “three-star” rating in the Mobil Guide and consistently high rankings in the Zagat Dining Guide to the International Five Star Diamond Award from the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences, the North American DiRoNA award and the Golden Sceptre award from the California Restaurant Writers Association.
And while the East Coast may have their White House, culinary enthusiasts know that the real white house is situated in Anaheim, and the man behind the big desk who has adopted President Harry Truman’s philosophy of “the buck stops here” is an Italian immigrant who will treat you like a king.
