The Boston Red Sox on Thursday, June 18 will be honoring Rob Dixon in a ceremony recognizing his being named a People Magazine/Major League Baseball All Star Among Us Award National Finalist.
Dixon, a Dorchester native runs Project RISE, a nonprofit which provides an academic summer camp for at-risk African American children from the City of Boston and has sent over 170 of these kids to four-year colleges, with almost all of them being the first in their family to attend college. Prior to becoming an educator Dixon played basketball for UNH and overseas.

People Magazine has narrowed down the field from tens of thousands to 3 people from each baseball market. A winner from each city will be selected by online voting now through June 24th and the winner from each city will be honored before the All Star Game in July.
