People Magazine Names Rob Dixon National Finalist

Boston, June 14, 2009- Project RISE is proud to announce that it's Founder and Executive Director Rob Dixon has been named by People Magazine and Major League Baseball a National Finalist for the 2009 All Star Among Us Award. The "All-Stars Among Us" campaign recognizes individuals who are serving their communities in extraordinary ways and is central to the 2009 MLB All-Star Summer program dedicated to charitable initiatives and recognition of the important role of community service.
“I am deeply honored to be a finalist for this very prestigious award. When I started Project RISE fourteen years ago I never would have imagined the potential of being honored at the Major League Baseball All Star Game. I am even more excited about the national exposure Project RISE will have which in turn will allow us to increase the number of children's lives we have can impact ,” said Dixon.
The finalists (three per MLB Club) have been selected from thousands of nominations. Fans can now log on to www.PeopleAllStars.com today through June 24 to vote for their favorite community "All-Star." Once on the website you will need to click the Boston Red Sox logo to then be able to vote for Rob Dixon. All 30 winners will be included in the All-Star Week festivities in St. Louis and will attend and be honored as part of the pre-game ceremony at the 2009 MLB All-Star Game, televised nationally by FOX Sports with pre-game ceremonies beginning at 7:00 p.m. CT (8:00 p.m. ET). One winning "All-Star Among Us" will be featured in PEOPLE the week of the All-Star Game.
Project RISE asks everyone to please take a few minutes to vote online. There is no limit to the number of times you can vote.

This summer over 300 children from the greater-Boston area will participate in the eight-week, full-day summer program that includes instruction by local public and private high school teachers in Math, English, Science, History, SAT Prep, and Study and Organizational Skills.
