Movable Historic Action Figure Book Awarded BEST CLASSIC TOY for 2009

Industry Newcomer's First Release Joins Yo-Yo, Crayons, Other Long-time Favorites

April 17, 2009 - PRLog -- OAKLAND, CA: Joining such iconic playthings as the 64-crayon Crayola box, the Duncan Yo-Yo, and the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe, Famous Figures of Ancient Times: Movable Paper Figures to Cut, Color and Assemble, the multicultural first release from new publisher Figures in Motion has been named Best Classic Toy for 2009 by Dr. Stevanne Auerback of the Institute for Childhood Resources, aka Dr. Toy. Dr. Auerbach has been rating and tracking toys for over 30 years. Out of thousands of toys sold nationwide, only 29 made the list.

“It's a huge honor for a startup company, especially considering the book was just released,” said  the figure collection's creator, airbrush artist Cathy Diez-Luckie, president of Figures in Motion and the artist who created the project. Trained at the Toledo Museum of Art and the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Diez-Luckie has illustrated several children's books including Goodbye Goose. She also holds a graduate degree in chemical engineering from Stanford University.

Famous Figures of Ancient Times is the first in a series of planned action-figure collections that allow children to cut the figures, pose them for historically accurate play, and move individual limbs and heads.
