With over 31 years of manufacturing innovative furniture designs to solve consumers space needs, Old Creek’s founder Shaheen Ghiassy, started the company with two key elements in mind being conscientious and respectful of the environment. Ghiassy recognizes that, “Green furniture, pieces that are constructed using sustainably harvested wood, made with low VOC finishes is better for our consumers and the Earth.”
Contractors and design firms purchasing products from Old Creek can now earn LEED® credits (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design). The following points can be awarded; Credits 5.1 & 5.2 Manufactured Locally, Extracted Locally; all products and manufacturing occur within a 500-miles radius, Credit 6.0 Rapidly Renewable Materials; Old Creek’s alternative plywood adheres to Green construction guidelines; and Credit 7.0; Certified Wood, all of Old Creek’s suppliers harvest from sustainable forests.
The switch to 100% solid plywood is part of Old Creek’s Green Initiative, a program started to encourage employee involvement taking the company in a Green direction.
