Aug. 19, 2008 - PRLog -- Nine year old Victorian kid Bryce Gathercole was one of many motocross riders who turned out in full force at the weekend helping to raise much needed funds for Challenge- supporting kids with cancer, by participating in the Ride 4 Kids open day at State Motorcycle Sports Complex in Broadford. Apart from a great day of dirt bike riding, the highest fundraiser walked away with a yet to be released 2009 model KTM 250 EXC-E motorcycle donated by event sponsor KTM.

In the weeks leading up to the event, Bryce put his fundraising skills to the test and managed to raise over $6000 for Challenge securing himself the position of highest fundraiser. The local community got right behind Bryce and supported him in his fundraising efforts. Having participated in previous years and coming in second, Bryce was determined this year to raise enough funds to win the prize for highest fundraiser.

Challenge is a not for profit organization that gives daily support to children living with cancer, and their families, from the point of diagnosis, throughout the treatment period and beyond.  From weekends away, to weekly Challenge Playgroup, to assisting families on a daily basis, both in and out of hospital, Challenge continues to bridge the gap between what is required by children and families living with cancer and the support that is offered.

The annual Ride 4 Kids fundraiser is now in its seventh year. Last year the event saw scorching heat and a dusty track. This year was the opposite extreme with crowds keeping warm and riders tearing through mud! Rainy conditions meant a dream track for riders. Apart from full on action packed dirt biking there was a memorabilia auction, KTM demo bikes, merchandise displays and a heap of great prizes.

KTM Australia, General Manager, Jeff Leisk is right behind supporting Challenge and encourages the motorcycling community to get behind the 2009 event.  “This ride day is not about racing or who is the fastest on the track, so anyone who owns a motorcycle can go along and have some fun, whilst supporting a great cause.”
