Are You Still Renting? It may be time to make a move.

It's finally time to buy: home prices are low, and the equity in your home will most likely be going up instead of down. These conditions along with steady rates mean that it's time to consider home ownership if you're still renting.

May 20, 2008 - PRLog -- In 2005, the housing market hit a high point in sales driving the prices of homes up because the supply was less than the demand.  This great influx in the market was likely caused by good interest rates and lenders who were willing to lend to almost anyone with loan programs that called for low payments now and high payments later.  America's need for immediate satisfaction drove people to purchase outside their means.  This was great for home sellers, and home buyers thought it was great too.  For a while.

While some took advantage of the popularity of the purchase, there are those of you who have waited.  Quietly renting a home and waiting for the right time to buy.  Maybe you just weren't ready yet, you needed to build up your credit or you didn't have the up front cash to purchase.  Whatever the reason, things have changed and it may be time to look at changing your situation too.

We are now almost half way through 2008.  Market conditions are not what they used to be, however, for those who waited to buy, this presents a very interesting opportunity.  If you have chosen to rent until now, that is understandable.  There are some advantages to that type of arrangement, including; not worrying about the equity that you gain or lose in your home, the freedom to move if you so choose, less maintenance and a fixed cost for the term of your lease.

All of these are the advantages to renting, but what are you missing out on?  No, you don't worry about equity, but you will never gain any either, you are limited to personalizing your living space and most importantly in todays economic conditions, you don't get the benefit of a tax deduction for the interest paid on your home.  At this point, you may want to ask yourself and your family if it is the right time to move up to owning your own home.

As stated before, the market presents an opportunity for buyers right now.  Here are some facts to consider; home prices are lower than they have been in many years, loan programs are back to the basics without the creative surprises later on and the equity in your home will most likely be going up instead of down.  These conditions along with steady interest rates mean that home ownership is worth looking into at the least.  It's easy to rent, but when you could buy at this time of great home prices, good interest rates and stable loan programs, it may be the best move you could make.
