NASHVILLE, Tenn. - May 24, 2016 - PRLog -- Nashville-based singer/songwriter Michael Logen will self-release his sophomore album, New Medicine, on June 24. Recorded in Nashville at Paper Swan Studios and Blue Room Studios, the album was co-produced by Logen with Thomas Doeve, Reid Scelza and Charles Yingling. Featuring 10 tracks, three of which have been featured on seven different television shows, the album includes guest appearances by Liz Longley, Kim Richey and Ruby Amanfu.

From the opening stately piano ballad, "St. Christopher" to the immersive, stunning "Breaking Your Own Heart" to the explosive first single, "Ready Or Not," New Medicine showcases Logen's raspy, charismatic vocal range from whispered to raucous, delicate to driving. The album also features three collaborations with female vocalists, including the angelic Kim Richey on "That Next Thing."

On an inner creative journey, New Medicine was written in a remote cabin in the central Tennessee Mountains. "I often feel this pull, maybe we all do, to the silence of the solitary, wilderness experience. To disconnecting for a time from the ever increasing background static of modern life. It's certainly not an original idea with me, many folks have done the same, though it's surprisingly hard to carve out the time and overcome the inner resistance to doing it. Maybe it's because my ancestors were Amish," Michael laughingly explains.

As a songwriter, his songs have been recorded by Mat Kearney, Jonny Lang, Brandon Heath, The Greencards, Paul Carrack, Will Hoge, Sister Hazel and Kelly Clarkson, who included "Breaking Your Own Heart" on her Grammy-winning album, Stronger. Logen's stripped-down, acoustic version of the song is included on New Medicine.

Having performed throughout North America, Ireland, England, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain and Italy, Logen has opened for John Hiatt, John Legend, India.Arie, Jonny Lang and Mat Kearney.

Growing up in a Mennonite home in the historic town of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, Logen learned to play guitar, piano and harmonica during living room jam sessions with friends and family playing Tom Paxton, Gordon Lightfoot, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash.
