A New Myth for the World now an e-book on Apple iBooks

This is the tenth book by the author, and it centers on religion.

When our religions are telling us, over and over, Hilgendorf argues, that we there is something wrong with us from the very beginning; or that absolute submission to authority and power is a requirement for happiness, we need to finally throw overboard these stories and myths that are hanging about our lives, impeding our growth and happiness.

Hilgendorf chronicles the modern movement by some Christians and Muslims towards a saner approach to religion.  This development includes not only Christianity and Islam, but a search for a greater humanism that is taking place among people of all religious persuations - Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, atheists, agnostic and others - and in a movement that Hilgendorf holds up as embodying a new story, a new myth of our place on this planet, amid the stars, exemplified by the emergence of the Soka Gakkai International, the largest Buddhist lay organization in the world now, with 12,000,000 members in 192 countries and territories around the world.
