Follow on Google News | Peacock Loop Diner Neon Sign is the Best Sign in the World!By: Peacock Loop Diner When owner Joe Edwards heard the news that the Peacock Loop Diner’s sign had won he said, “I thought two things: 1. I couldn’t be prouder of how my daughter Hope Edwards transformed my concept into a dazzling sign design and 2. this is a positive win for the St. Louis region.” The 11-ft wide, 1800 lb sign has over 680 feet of neon tubing. An elegant peacock fans out its colorful neon feathers in sequence over 200 times per hour. The sign was designed by Hope Edwards with contributions from Kiku Obata & Co. and was built by Piros Signs. The concept was by Joe Edwards. A brilliant blue peacock head and neck in profile rise above three rows of extravagant, fan-shaped tail feathers which light up and fan out in sequence around the words “Peacock Loop Diner” which are in turn flanked by three classic diner stripes. The light sequencing shows a peacock spreading out its feathers and then bringing them back in, on dazzling repeat. The three rows of plumage are vividly colored in emerald green, lemon yellow and electric blue; each feather pops with a raspberry colored eye spot. The sign looks colorful and beautiful during the day as well, with striking rich painted colors on aluminum. Joe Edwards says his goal was to create a sign that is unique and that could become a landmark for The Loop and the region. Once Edwards decided on “Peacock” as the name for the new diner, he imagined an exciting sign to match the look of the striking bird. “My concept was to represent a peacock in neon in a lively, fun way that would appeal to people from all over the country and the world. The Loop is such a melting pot of ages, ethnicities and ideas and we’re proud of that neighborhood dynamic. A peacock symbol seemed to be a perfect match for the area,” says Edwards. Edwards shared his concept for the sign with his daughter Hope Edwards, a professional graphic designer. She turned his vision into a fully detailed design and piece of artwork with input from Kiku Obata & Company. The art was transformed into a physical sign by Piros Signs, a third generation company based in Barnhart, Missouri. It is a sign not just for the Peacock Diner, but also for the area and the region, showcasing the vibrancy, color, and friendliness of the Loop neighborhood and St. Louis. PeacockLoopDiner.com End
