CHEYENNE, Wyo. - March 23, 2015 - PRLog -- BabyGearLab put 9 of the most popular baby monitors on the market through extensive side-by-side tests to determine which monitors offered the best features with top performance for the Best Baby Monitor Review. Each monitor underwent tests designed to mimic everyday performance needs and feature functionality. Test metrics included ease of use, range, features, and sound quality among others. Test results and user experience helped drive the overall rank and final scores of each product so the very best could be chosen. In the end, BabyGearLab chose one monitor for Editors’ Choice and another as a Best Value option.

And the awards go to:

The Philips Avent SCD570/10 ran away with the review earning the Editors’ Choice award by receiving 13 more points than the closest competitors. Dr. Spurrier, BabyGearlab founder, says, “The SCD570/10 is a robust monitor with loads of features for convenience and comfort. It is easy to use, and has some of the best quality sound in the group.” Dr. Spurrier went on to say that, “This monitor also offers sound activation and microphone sensitivity adjustment which make it a monitor so quiet parents will have no trouble sleeping with it on. We think this kind of feature is a must have for monitors.”

The Best Value award went to the VTech Safe & Sound DM221. This monitor tied for 2nd place with 2 other monitors and earned the second highest sound quality score in the review. The VTech has the features that most parents will be looking for and it does them well. Juliet Spurrier MD from BabyGearLab said, “The VTech has great sound activation that creates a silent parent unit is silent if baby is sleeping. We didn’t test any other product in this price range that offered as many features and had good sound.”

Testing of each monitor included real world scenarios designed to demonstrate the good and the bad of each product. Winners were chosen based on their overall scores and user impressions. The test results for each metric were then totaled and used in conjunction with user impressions to choose award winners. BabyGearLab considered metrics like sound clarity, quality, range, EMF readings, battery life, and features during testing.
