Follow on Google News | Dads, Father Figures Invited to Male Summit on March 21This year’s theme is Leaving a Legacy of Leadership for 2015
By: Guilford County Council of PTAs Fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, uncles, neighbors and community members and their children are invited to attend to strengthen their skills as parent figures and help the children in their lives become successful. “Today, our children are looking for more male role models to step up and be seen in our schools,” said Angel Guerrero, Guilford County Council of PTAs chair of male involvement. “This event is a great opportunity for men to network with others and gain some new insight into Leaving a Legacy of Leadership.” Guerrero speaks from experience. The father of three is an active volunteer at Brooks Global Studies, where he leads the F.B.I. – Fathers Being Involved. He’ll serve as master of ceremonies at the summit, which will also feature Guilford County Commissioner Vice Chair Jeff Phillips, Director of Guilford Parent Academy Lindsay Whitley and Motivational Speaker Brian McNeill. A father of two daughters, Phillips is an active member of the community. Over the years, he has coached multiple sports teams, served on the Board of Directors of the Greensboro Children’s Museum and is involved in his church. He currently serves on the Greensboro Partnership Economic Development Advisory Committee and as a Liaison to the Board of County Commissioners for Downtown Greensboro Incorporated. McNeill is a local author and motivational speaker. Also active in the community, McNeill serves as a facilitator for the male support group Men of Resolution (M.O.R.E.) and has served in other similar roles in Charlotte and Raleigh.
