Expo West 2015 Helps Support Expansion of Organic Consumer Options

Expo West 2015 runs full time Friday-Sunday with the Fresh Ideas Tent on Thursday. Smart Health Talk Radio Show will broadcast live 4-5 pm PST on Thursday and interview organic companies each day of the show to help consumers get to know them better.

ANAHEIM, Calif. - March 3, 2015 - PRLog -- Expo West 2015 is kicking off this week at the Anaheim Convention Center in California near Disneyland.  This is the biggest natural/organic food show in the country.  There will be 2,600 vendors presenting their products to what is expected to be over 60,000 attendees.

Besides walking the exhibitor floor on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and hitting some seminars with top notch speakers talking about subjects related to this industry, it is also exciting to visit the Fresh Ideas tent on Thursday to see what new products and companies are being introduced.  This year attendees will also be able to visit the new “Hot Products” pavilion at the Hilton through the weekend.

This show sets the pace for what will be available in stores, restaurants, and other food operations all over the country.  Smart Health Talk will also be there again this year broadcasting our radio show live on Thursday, March 5th 4-5:00 pm with distinguished guest “Coach” Mark Smallwood, Director of the Rodale Institute.  Coach will have some important announcements to share with us, and we will discuss what we at Smart Health Talk consider the most important topic of all because impacts every person on the planet, "Climate Change and How to Reverse It."

Coach not only has a plan on how to reverse it, but scientific proof it will work.  The information he wants to share with the world is clear and based on years of research and data collection at the Rodale Institute.  This is critical because there are no other solutions that will get us there fast enough to stop the catastrophic events that we know not “if” but “when” will happen as a result of a 400 ppm carbon load in the air, the first time we have reached this level in millions of years.  The ocean was also 85 ft higher at that time, and with the recent report of an island off the coast of Alaska being one of the first casualties where inhabitants have to move because it is disappearing underwater, we cannot deny the levels are rising.

Considering over half the population live within 120 miles of a coastline, is it obvious that many more will have to move if we continue on this course.

The time for action is NOW, not years from now, and Coach’s plan gives everyone a chance to contribute to the solution and saving our planet.

Thanks to technology, anyone can tune in live to Smart Health Talk Radio Show at www.KCAAExpress.com via TuneIn or USTREAM (KCAA 1050) or call toll free 832-999-1050 to listen even without the internet.  Podcasts go up right after the show.  These podcasts can be downloaded, listed to anytime, posted other places, and shared.  More info is on our SmartHealthTalk.com website under the “About Us” tab.

One of the things we enjoy most about Expo West is meeting the people behind the true organic companies. Not the organic companies that have been bought out by mega multi national corporations, but the people that are willing to take on bringing organic products to consumers despite the higher cost of raw materials, smaller profit margins, and the huge hoops they have to jump through for distribution and shelf space.

These family owned companies represent what America is all about, and supporting these companies creates new jobs and helps people support their families.

Organic start ups have to endure major competition from mega food corporations that are bigger than anytime in history thanks to taxpayer subsides and cheap ingredients that give them huge profit margins.  When you get to be that big, you have incredible buying power so demand cheaper prices for everything you need.  This is not always a good thing, because many companies have to bow down to their demands and work harder for less money.

These brave organic entrepreneurs could choose conventional or non GMO ingredients, but instead take a stand against anything that could be contaminated with harmful poisons and chemical toxins.  They take the fact that their food will go into peoples bodies seriously, and don’t ignore the mountain of evidence that is piling up on the damage caused by the multiple pesticides/GMOs and 80,000 chemicals used on non organic food today.

We have started a webpage, "Booths to Visit at Expo West” that represent those products/companies that could never afford multi million dollar marketing campaigns, but deserve consumer dollars.  They would never choose to donate to political campaigns that block transparency in food labeling such those that have donated even million of dollars to stop legislation that would require information on labels to let consumers know a product contains GMOs.  Consumers are already kept in the dark by words such as “Artificial Flavor” on product labels that hide what could be hundreds of chemicals added to a product that imitate nature or stimulate the addictive parts of our brain.

The link to the organic companies we support that are in attendance at Expo West 2015 will be located on our homepage.  We hope both Expo West 2015 attendees and consumers will want to visit this webpage and learn more about these companies and their products.

As the host of Smart Health Talk and a registered dietitian with a Masters in Public Health, these are my top choices for health, disease prevention, and safety.  With pesticides being the #1 cause of birth defects, contaminating every aspect of our environment, and linked to a long list of diseases, together with their inferior nutritional content after coming from what we call “dead soil," there is no way we could recommend non organic products as the best choice for families.

It is our hope that consumers will see the value and satisfaction in supporting these companies. Our plans are to expand our website to include a new database that will build on what we’ve started under our “Resources” tab on our www.SmartHealthTalk.com website for snacks, treats and candies.  It is our goal to support organic farmers and true organic family owned companies so consumers can find out about the great selection available to them that they will not learn about on television.
