While the snow was swirling outside, nominees were anxiously awaiting the dinner banquet where the Lovey Awards would be given out. Annie Rose Alexander's novel; Retribution, was up against great local talents Robert Goldsborough and Raymond Benson. She won the LOVEY for best Police Procedural Jeff Markowitz's novel; Death and White Diamonds, was up against Andrew Grant and Raymond Benson. He won the LOVEY for best Thriller. Both Annie and Jeff signed their publishing contracts with Intrigue Publishing at the Love Is Murder conference in 2014. When Jeff accepted his award he said, "I did not win this award alone. It was because of all of us that I won". Annie was beaming as she posed for pictures and exclaimed, "I can't believe I won!" The editorial and marketing directors were in attendance and were very happy with the outcome. At the same conference last year, first time author C.A. Verstraete won the LOVEY for best Horror/Paranormal Novel beating out such greats as Heather Graham. The entire Intrigue Publishing team is estatic with the wins of these two great authors. End
