Follow on Google News | On the Cards for Children: Conversations about Loss and ChangeChild Bereavement UK publishes conversation cards to get children and young people talking about loss, change, death and grief.
By: Fink Cards The cards have been written with input from bereaved children and young people and will be launched at Child Bereavement UK’s upcoming conference for schools at Aston University on the 8th October. Members of Child Bereavement UK’s Young People’s Advisory Group who have helped develop the cards, said: "Death, change and loss happen to everyone yet we rarely talk about it. If we can be more open this may help us to support each other when we are facing an experience like this and help us not feel alone.” Ann Chalmers, Chief Executive of Child Bereavement UK said "Bereavement in schools is sadly a common occurrence - over 90% of children and young people will experience a significant bereavement before the age of 16. This new resource will be a useful tool for teachers to encourage pupils to talk more openly about bereavement, helping to remove taboos and fears around the subject of death and dying and helping to improve their emotional well-being in the longer-term.” The Conversations about Loss and Change deck of cards contains 48 compelling questions and is available for KS1, KS2 and KS3. The cards are published by Fink Cards and priced at £14.99. To order go to: http://shop.childbereavementuk.org or tel: 01494 568900. Every year we train over 4000 health professionals helping them to better understand and meet the needs of grieving families. In the UK, when a baby or child dies, or a child is bereaved, many of those affected are unable to access good quality support which meets their individual needs. Child Bereavement UK believes all families should have the support they need to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies. Our aim is to make sure they do. www.childbereavementuk.org Press Enquiries: Jane Keightley Tel: 01494 568913 Charity No in England and Wales: 1040419 and Scotland SCO42910 Email: jane.keightley@ Twitter: @cbukhelp About Fink Fink Cards is a leader in the field of creating classroom conversations.
